Fall Pantone

Hey guys!

Today was unusually mild for an October day, not to say that I didn't enjoy it, but I've been questioning the unpredictable weather we've been experiencing here in NY. One day it's in the mid 50s and the next it's in the low 80s, like today. But luckily today I was dressed appropriate for fall and transitioning weather, by layering this faux fur vest on top of the short sleeve turtleneck. These are pieces that I feel are very versatile and transitional for both the fall and spring seasons, as the weather has proven to be fickle. So as you can imagine, the vest went on and off throughout the entire day, lol!

We chose to take today's photos at a park that we recently discovered and feel in love with for obvious reasons. First off, it's huge! There's so many acres that offer the best of nature. From the changing leaves to the water and the animals that run so freely without a care in the world, sometimes I want their life, lol! I mean really, some animals have to do very little hunting and find shelter and live it up, while us humans are slaving away, especially us fast paced New Yorkers, trying to make it on a daily basis. 'Common, you must admit that I do make sense! Anyway...

Moving right along to the outfit; I chose to work with colors that are typical during the season, as I have been doing a lot lately. I chose basic pieces to start with, like a pair of dark washed skinnies and a short sleeve turtleneck and mixed them with pattern and texture to add interest and dimension. The pattern on the boots, I felt, went very well with the color scheme (a very earthy palette). The vest was added for additional warmth, since it started off chilly today, as well as for texture. These two additions truly enhanced an otherwise simple and boring outfit.

STYLE TIPS:

Every pear and rectangular shaped woman should own a few fur vests, since they add volume and dimension to the smaller upper body. For the rectangular shape, I'd even suggest adding a waist belt to re-establish that waistline, which I'm always stressing the importance of! The hourglass and apple shapes could still of course wear this piece, but other pieces within the outfit must be considered while pairing, to avoid having the vest be the sole star of the show!
