Hello beauties!

This week's W3 post is about choosing peplum tops for both the pear and hourglass shapes. When it comes to peplum, we must know that not all peplum tops are created equal! There are some that have a much wider flare out and there are those that drop down longer towards the hips. Since us pear and hourglass shaped ladies are known for our curvy hips and butt, we want to make sure that we don't over exaggerate our curves, with peplum tops that could make them appear that much wider! What I love about this top is that it has a bit of a frilled cap sleeve which creates some interest and volume up top, where the pear shape generally lacks. The flare out section of the peplum is not as stiff, since the material is very light and flowy, permitting for movement, which in turn will not stick out so intensely around the hip section. This look would be great for a pear, rectangular, and hourglass shaped lady, since everything is fairly balanced out in color and pattern. I chose to work with a patterned and vibrant colored top, a solid blue pencil skirt, which brings out the blue pattern in the top, as well as color blocked shoes, which also bring out the colors of the top also! We created a well balanced effect: pattern, solid, pattern!

It's very important that we keep these rules in mind when dressing for the office because we don't want to appear overwhelmingly loud with patterns and colors, so breaking up the look with a solid piece will help tone things down a bit. I generally like using the basic office solids, such as black, grey, or in this case, navy.

I hope you all have a wonderful and productive day at the office and we'll meet again for next week's W3 post, but in the meantime, check back for some ideas on more casual every day wear throughout the week :)
