Hello Ladies!
As many of you know, if you follow me on my other social media outlets, I attended Cosmopolitan's Fashion Career Summit yesterday! It was such an amazing experience to hear and learn from some of the most renowned names in fashion, and some, the entertainment industry. The reason I attended the event was not simply to meet these well established and successful individuals, although that was part of it, but, also to learn how to become better at providing beneficial information to and for all of you! Which leads me to one of the suggestions pointed out by every single member on the first panel and that was, it's not always about me, but certainly always about you! This is something that I try to practice here on the blog and in everything I produce; to provide information that is beneficial for all you. Although I post outfit of the days (ootds), for example, I try to often explain and suggest how you my reader and viewer (YouTube) can wear and style it to meet your figure, fashion, and style needs.
When starting this blog and entire journey, to be honest, I didn't have much support from those I knew personally. Many suggested I continued on the path I was set on, but inside, deep down inside, it just didn't feel right. This was something that editor-in-chief, Joanna Coles, who I ABSOLUTELY ADORE (she is hilarious!!!), stressed the importance of. There was one running theme throughout the entire event and that was knowing that you're meant to be in the fashion industry, but also knowing that it's okay to not always immediately know what you're meant to do in the industry; simply get out there and try something and you'll eventually find your niche.

Lastly, I wanted to share the story of one key note speaker who was so inspirational to me and that was Rebecca Minkoff. At only 33 years of age, Rebecca has become one of the industry leaders in fashion. She moved to New York at the age of 18 to pursue her dream in becoming a fashion designer, with little emotional and financial support. She took everything she had in savings up until that point and began investing to start and develop her brand. What later became her big breakthrough into the world of fashion, was when actress Jenna Elfman wore her "I Love New York" t-shirt, shortly after 9-11 on the Jay Leno Show, which was actually designed and sent to Jenna on Sept. 9th. Shortly after the show, Rebecca was flooded with requests for the t-shirt and gained entry way into the industry she so desperately wanted to work in. Fast forward four years later, Rebecca launched her now famous and most sold item in her collection, the "Morning After Bag" (M.A.B.). Although many from the outside would view her foot in the door as mere luck, few know that she hustled her way through turning every single "no" she was told into a possibility and ultimately a huge yes!

Rebecca's story resonates with me because I too was told no when I shared with many about the start of my blog and YouTube channel and the much bigger dream I have, which encompasses those platforms. In fact, I'm sure most, if not all of you, would be able to relate, as I know that her story impacted many of the ladies that were in the room with me yesterday. Why? Because her story is relatable. She was told no many times and things didn't go smoothly all time time and there was very little support in the beginning, but that allowed her, to build and develop a much needed tenacity to actually do the very thing one set's out to do, which I can surely relate to as well!
