Girlies!

How was your weekend? I hope you all had a fun and safe one! For this week's date night, Eddie and I were accompanied by my mom. We ate at a Uruguayan restaurant in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn; the name of the restaurant is Tabaré. It was our first time dining there and it definitely will not be our last! Everything about our experience was great, the service and the food, which you don't always get exceptional quality in both very often, unfortunately.

For starters, Eddie and I shared their Cacerola de pulpo & habas, which translates to an octopus casserole with lima beans, paprika, lemon, and aioli. It was very good, the only thing I'd add is that I wished that there would've been more octopus, but it was definitely very flavorful as a whole!

As for dinner, all three of us ended up ordering the same thing because it sounded that good! We all had their churrasco, which is a skirt steak in a chimichurri sauce with potato confit and a side of salad. If you don't know, Uruguayans are known for getting down on the grill! Their meats are absolutely delicious and packed with flavor, which is why we wanted to try their steak and not one of us were disappointed, by the way!

As for dessert, it was a tad bit late by the time we headed to the Chocolate Room, our spot for summer desserts in Brooklyn. I ended up having their chocolate bark, which I honestly forgot to snap a shot of, but it was dark chocolate, almonds, and sea salt...yup, nothing short of pure deliciousness with a combination like that!

AS FOR MY OUTFIT:

What I love about many city restaurants is that you can get away with dressing up or down and not feel out of place because you'll often see a nice blend of the two. For this particular evening, I decided to wear an all black look, which worked, since the graphic on my tee added something extra and interesting. To pull out the blue rhinestones in the eyes of the tiger, I wore a feminine blue necklace. The look overall, was more of an edgy look, with a touch of a feminine element with the floral piece.

HOW TO ROCK IT FOR YOUR SHAPE:

If you're a pear shape, like myself, then I suggest you go for the same pairing method, when styling a look like this. I wore a graphic black tank paired with black jeans. This will help slim the thighs, hips, and butt, while adding interest to your upper body, refocusing the eye, especially if it's a flowy tank or tee, too!

If you're an apple shape, you can also go for an all black look, but you'd want to pay close attention to the neckline and cut of the top. You may want to avoid a top that has a wider neckline and that's a bit clingy. Instead, opt for a v-neck or scoop that'll help narrow out your upper body, with a flowy style that won't cling to your midsection. When it comes to the bottoms, I'd suggest selecting a black skirt, perhaps even leather. But, if you'd like to wear a pair, I'd suggest going for a flared or bootcut leg, to help balance out the width of your upper body, the same is true for all you inverted triangles!

As for you rectangular and hourglass shapes, you can style the look I did here, or select the option I suggested for the apple and inverted triangle gals, the choice is yours! But, I'd like to remind you rectangular shapes, you want to redefine that waistline, so you may want to tuck the front of your top into your bottoms and leave the back out.

If you're petite, I'd suggest you pair your black jeans with black shoes, as I did here, since it can help elongate the legs. This is a strategy that not only petites can use, but those of you who have a longer torso and shorter legs! If you have longer legs and a shorter torso and would like to make your legs appear shorter, break up the look a bit by opting for a different color shoe.

So what do you think of the look? I hope you like it :)
