Happy Hump Day, beauties!

I hope you're all having a great week so far! One of my favorite prints that I tend to reach for mainly throughout fall and winter is houndstooth. Not that it can't be worn all year long, I guess it's because the pieces I have are more appropriate for those seasons. I wanted to create an outfit using these houndstooth pants I purchased last season, but I wanted to feature another print somehow. After gazing into my closet thinking of what would work well with them, I saw this white and black striped shirt and thought it would be a perfect match for a number of reasons:

1. The colors of the shirt was the exact colors found in my pants, a great thing to consider when trying to figure out which patterns would look good together.

2. The shirt had a striped print, which is a safe print, meaning it works well with most, if not all, the other prints there are.

3. It worked well with my shape. I have fuller legs and a booty, so when I wear print on the bottom, I carefully consider the tops I wear them with to help balance out the visual weight that the print can add to those areas. What I love about this pant is that the houndstooth is smaller, which helps slim the bottom portion of my body, while the stripe shirt helps to cause visual width to my naturally narrow upper body. Essentially creating a balanced outfit for my shape, which is pear (this exact pairing would create the same effect for the hourglass). If you have a larger upper body and don't seek to cause additional width, I'd suggest you consider a black base stripe shirt with thinner and more concise stripes and perhaps a larger houndstooth print for your bottoms.

I hope you found this post helpful and inspirational! Thanks so much for stopping by and reading. I hope you all have a beautiful day!
